Participants without a strong foundation in the squat, deadlift, and press will not be able to keep up in this program.*
Learn your lifts! If you’ve mastered the squat, press, and deadlift, it’s time to add some power! The Beginner Olympic-style Weightlifting class will introduce you to the sport of Olympic Weightlifting: the snatch and clean & jerk. No prior Olympic weightlifting experience required. At least 1-2 years of resistance training experience is recommended. This 8-week class meets in the Power Training Room at MCV’s Larrick Center which features new oak platforms! The class is taught by a USAW-certified Sports Performance Coach and will focus heavily on improving participants’ aptitude at successfully completing the Olympic lifts by using light to moderate weights during various technique drills with constant feedback from the coach.
