Participants without a strong foundation in the squat, deadlift, and press will not be able to keep up in this program.*
The beginner weightlifting class is for participants with less than 1 year of Olympic weightlifting experience and at least 1 year of resistance training (lifting) experience. The class is taught by a USAW-certified Sports Performance Coach. The class will focus heavily on proper technique in the snatch and the clean and jerk, with the assumption that participants have a basic understanding of, and can demonstrate, a proper deadlift, squat, and overhead press. This class will primarily improve participants’ aptitude at successfully completing the Olympic lifts by using light to moderate weights during various technique drills with constant feedback from the coach.
